E Taylor & Son Funeral Directors are a small independent family run business situated in the heart of Carterton, providing a service upheld by its ultimate care and attention throughout Carterton, The Cotswolds and Oxfordshire. We take great pride in our reputation for providing a quality bespoke funeral service in a caring, respectful and truly dignified manner.

The Taylor family can be traced back to the 1700’s and originates from Kencott, just a few miles from Carterton. We were master carpenters who specialised in hurdle making. As the business began to grow Ernest Theodore Taylor moved to a larger site in Kencott where we became Funeral Directors and Builders. With our own team of highly skilled craftsmen, we renovated many of the old homes we see around us today. We also branched out into cabinet making and carpet fitting and began our journey with a local furniture shop in Corn Street, Witney called R A Jones we had the shop in 1840 and we only recently closed this in 2015 we provided quality products with a sensible price with the core values of professional, reliable and affordable.

Our Purpose-Built Funeral Home in Carterton

In 1946, Albert Taylor moved the business to Corbett Road, Carterton which was larger still, as both the building and funeral directing grew with Carterton. In 1970, we moved to our present site, also in Corbett Road, where Brian Taylor Snr built one of the first, purpose built, Funeral Homes in our area and we have been here ever since. Set in half an acre of beautiful, landscaped gardens, the building has grown and is now one of the most modern, professionally designed funeral homes offering the highest standards of care to our clients, and a peaceful place to rest.

In late 2014, we added our own fleet of Funeral vehicles. These are all coach-built here in the UK. To the present day, three generations of the Taylor family work in the business together we are: Brian Snr, Brian Jnr, Sam and Nicola Taylor. Alongside our dedicated team, who are all on hand 24/7 365 days a year to assist your family in your time of need.

After an initial meeting has been held to discuss the services required (and before the arrangements are placed in hand), a written estimate is given for your approval.
